Tom Schofield looks back at yesterday’s game by giving his ratings on how each Rovers player performed.
A 0-0 draw and a good point was overshadowed by an embarrassing refereeing performance by Darren England.
So, how did each player play?
RAYA, David – 7.4/10 – The Spanish shot stopper kept his second clean sheet in as many matches. He will be happy with his performance, after the resilient 10 men of Rovers held out firm against a strong Wigan side.
NYAMBE, Ryan – 6.6/10 – Didn’t offer much going forwards, but helped aid a resolute Rovers defence. He will be happy to have seen his return to the side, see Rovers pick up another clean sheet.
MULGREW, Charlie – 7.6/10 – Lead the Rovers back-line superbly. Was a monster at the back and marshalled the Wigan attack expertly.
DOWNING, Paul – 7/10 – Another good defensive performance from the loanee. Despite being caught out early on, he continued to show why so many Rovers fans have been happy with his performances.
WILLIAMS, Derrick – 7.4/10 – A fantastic last ditch tackle in the first half prevented what would have been a clear goal scoring opportunity for Wigan. After receiving a little bit of criticism this season, he will have been more than happy with his performance.
WHITTINGHAM, Peter – 6.6/10 – Kept hold of the ball well, helping Rovers stamp their authority onto the game. Changed after the sending off of Bennett and had to drop further back. A decent performance from the central midfielder.
SMALLWOOD, Richie – 7.2/10 – Excellent as usual. Was brilliant at protecting his back four, particularly after Bennett’s sending off.
BENNETT, Elliott – 6/10 – A controversial sending off ruined what was a decent performance from the wide man. Clearly upset about his sending off, Rovers may well miss his passion in his one game ban.
DACK, Bradley – 7.4/10 – Continuing to show why Mowbray spent £750,000 on the former Gills man. Dack had a couple of chances to put Rovers ahead. he maybe should have scored but it was a good performance from the attacking midfielder.
CONWAY, Craig – 6.4/10 – A return to the squad and a typical Conway performance. Got through a lot of work and drives Rovers forward. Will have been disappointed Dack wasn’t able to convert one of his crosses.
ANTONSSON, Marcus – 5.4/10 – Works hard but his hold up play needs work. Unable to keep hold of the ball, he offered Rovers little, besides his constant running. Our style of play didn’t meet the Swede’s style of play.
CHAPMAN, Harry – 6.6/10 – A disappointing injury to Boro loanee saw Rovers play the last two minutes with 9 men. Looked to drive Rovers forward on the counter when he was on. Hopefully his injury isn’t too serious.
GRAHAM, Danny – 7/10 – Hold up play was excellent when he came on and acted as a perfect outlet, helping to relieve pressure from the Rovers defence. Did his bit defensively as well, winning headers in his own box. Only criticism would be his inability to pick out Caddis, who would have been one on one with the keeper. He needs to start on Tuesday.
CADDIS, Paul – 6.2/10 – Had Graham found him, he’d have had the perfect opportunity to send Rovers home with 3 points. Assured display when he came on
