We talk to Shrewsbury fans “Salop Supporters” ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the New Meadow.
What do you make of your team’s transfer window so far?
“Paul Hurst has done exactly what he wanted to do. He’s got rid of a lot dead weight and brought in players who want to play for the club. Most of the incomers have worked with Hurst previously and you can see he trusts them. Players like Nolan and Henderson have become favourites very quickly and Payne just can’t stop scoring.”
What do you think of Blackburn Rovers’ summer deals?
“You have Jayson [Leutwiler] who is a great shot stopper, but distribution and decision making is awful. Apart from that, you’ve got a good mixture in experience and young.”
Who is your team’s player to watch and why?
“Jonny Nolan is quality. We compare him to Ryan Woods who signed for Brentford a couple of years ago. His movement, footwork and range of passes is just a class above this level. Also Payne, lowest minutes to goal ratio in the league. To be fair watch ALL of our team, you will not have or will not see a harder working team all season.”
How has the first month and a half of your season been?
“Under par… no just kidding we’re in dream land. 7 wins out of 8. How can you go wrong. We were tipped to go down, and who knows, we may still but let’s enjoy it whilst it lasts.”
How do you see your season going?
“Who knows? We’ve already exceeded our mid season points total from last season in 8 games so we don’t know what we can achieve. ”
What should we expect to see from Shrewsbury Town?
“11 of the hardest working players you will see all season. This isn’t a biased opinion neither. All 11 players give it their all, press in packs and when they do have the ball, they play some good football.”
How do you think the game will go?
“Being the realists, we know Blackburn are favourites. But after the start we have had, we can dream of another game undefeated can’t we?”
What score do you think it’ll be and who will score?
“Let’s go 1-1. Payne to score for us.”
