Born in Hamburg, Germany, Derrick Williams moved to Waterford (Republic of Ireland) in 2000. He started playing football and was spotted when playing for Tramore AFC, aged only 15. He then received offers from both Manchester United and Aston Villa, with Williams choosing the latter due to the youth setup at the Birmingham-based club. Williams joined Rovers from Bristol City on a three year contract. Williams was a very consistent perform last year and picked up Player of the Year.

Other clubs played for: Aston Villa 2011-13; Bristol City 2013-2016; Rovers 2016-present

Ryan Nyambe

DEF Ryan Nyambe

Country of Birth: Namibia

Date of birth: 4th December 1997 (age 19)

Position: RB

Appearances/Goals for Rovers: 25/0

(Stats correct as of the start of the 2017/18 season)

Ryan Nyambe is a youth team graduate who made his debut for the U21s/U23s in late 2014. Since his debut, he has progressed very well and is now a first team member. Nyambe first progressed into the first team in August 2015 and made his debut against Shrewsbury Town in the Capital One Cup. Blackburn lost 2-1 and Ryan had a very shaky debut and was at fault for one of the goals that cost Rovers the win. He didn’t consequently feature in Gary Bowyer's team for the rest of the season and carried on his development in the youth team, impressing for the U23’s. He eventually got his chance in the EFL Cup the following season and impressed after coming on as a sub against Leeds United and was part of a makeshift defence that night – playing CB due to injures. He then featured on the bench under Coyle, until the former manager handed him his debut at home to Huddersfield. Then, when new and current boss Tony Mowbray walked into the club he was a regular starter and ended up playing 28 times for the first team. Ryan has come on leaps and bounds from the nervous 17-year-old against Shrewsbury. He is currently Rovers number one choice RB and if he continues developing how he has been he will quickly become a fan favourite.

Paul Caddis

Rovers v York

Country of birth: Scotland

Date of birth: 19th April 1988 (29 years old)

Position: RB

Appearances/Goals for Rovers: 0/0

(Stats correct as of the start of the 2017/18 season)

Paul Caddis joined Rovers after impressing manager Tony Mowbray in a trial this summer. Mowbray has previously worked with Caddis when he started his career at Celtic. The Scottish international has played most of his career in England in League 1 and the Championship with Swindon and Birmingham. He is best known for scoring the last minute goal against Bolton on the last day of the season that saved Birmingham from relegation.
A solid professional, this gives Mowbray options at right back following the exit of Adam Henley, and good competition to the ever improving Ryan Nyambe.

Other clubs played for: Celtic 2007-10; Dundee United 2009 (loan); Swindon Town 2010-13; Birmingham City 2013-17; Bury 2017; 2017-present Rovers
