Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the permanent signing of Paul Downing from MK Dons.
The centre-back becomes Mowbray’s first signing of the January transfer window, for an undisclosed fee.
He will continue to wear the number 25 shirt.
Downing joined on loan from the Buckinghamshire outfit on the final day of the summer transfer window, and now the move has been made permanent.
Originally labelled as a “panic” signing by many fans, Downing has been a surprise revelation since joining in August.
He hasn’t lost a league game in a Rovers shirt, and great defensive performances have made him a fan favourite.
Downing has scored one goal during his time at Ewood, in the 4-2 victory at Blackpool in November.
With Darragh Lenihan returning in the coming weeks and months, Downing will be doing all he can to cement his place in the starting 11.
