A great bit of business

After Ryan Nyambe signed a new deal yesterday, @roversbrad97 looks at why the deal is good for both Nyambe and Rovers.

Nyambe contract

A few hours before kick off at the Globe Arena (which Rovers won 2-1), Rovers fans were pleased to see that one of the club’s upcoming prospects has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until the year 2020 with the option of a further year.

Ryan Nyambe is one of the club’s bright prospects over recent seasons and the whole of the Rovers’ fan base are delighted to see that the 19 year old right-back had a signed a new contract.

The Namibian-born defender’s first appearance came in the Capital One Cup against Shrewsbury Town in August 2015 – where he looked shaky and nervous. He was then called up to the first team mid-season last year, due to problems with Ben Marshall – who was filling in at right-back looked for pastures new and decided to join Wolves. From then on, he has made 27 competitive first team appearances in a role which he looks accomplished in and watching him progress week in week out, was one of the highs in what was a season mainly full of lows for Rovers.

After signing his new contract, Nyambe said, “This new contract means a lot to me because I’ve been here for a very long time and I just want to pay the club back for what they’ve done for me.

This will somewhat please the Rovers fan base – avoiding the same situation as Connor Mahoney – as he is a very genuine young lad who’s just looking to get first team football at the highest level possible, playing every week and furthermore signing this new deal has cemented his place in the Rovers team.

Lastly, Ryan has spoke very highly of the rest of the squad and manager Tony Mowbray over the past coming weeks in pre-season about the fitness levels and the quality of the squad. He also said he see’s no reason why Rovers can not go and challenge for the League One title this season and everyone is raring to go for the away trip to Southend on the 5th August.
