Rovers have confirmed the signing of 20 year old striker Joe Nuttall.
The striker scored 5 goals in two games for the development squad. Joe has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
Joe Nuttall was brought up in Manchester, and hecame through the ranks at Manchester City’s Academy. Joe joined Aberdeen in the summer of 2015 from City.
Joe made 2 sub appearances for the first team, scoring no goals. However, he scored 12 goals for the under 20 side. The young striker then joined Stranraer on loan in 2016. He scored 2 goals for the first team in 9 games. The striker then went onto fellow Scottish Championship side, Dumbarton.
Time at Rovers
Nuttall left Aberdeen to come on trial at Rovers. He bagged a hat trick against AFC Darwen and then two versus Ramsbottom in the development squad. Joe played in the friendlies against York City and Morcambe FC.
Joe impressed with his movement on and off the ball and has a good future ahead of him. Although he didn’t find the net, he showed he knows how to make the runs. I’d say play him the development squad to build his confidence and give him game time to improve. He can be a good back up throughout if needed throughout the season(s) .
Who would everyone else like to see being brought into the club? We would love to see your responses, either comment below or on our twitter!
Thomas Evans, a Rovers fan said the following about Nuttall.
“At only the age of 20 this signing is a no-brainer. At worst he plies his trade in the Development squad, if he does poorly he goes at the end of the next season. If he does well he can be introduced into the 1st team and have a contract extension. Either way, at a low cost transfer. It is a win-win for Rovers.
Welcome to Blackburn Rovers Joe Nuttall!”
