Rovers head to the Globe Arena to take on Morecambe in Rovers’ 4th friendly. @roverschat previews the game here.
Rovers head into the game on the back of an 8-0 rout over York. However, Friday’s opposition should provide a tougher test. Morecambe are only a division off Rovers and should test the fitness that the players have. The Shrimps will be the highest quality English team we will have played so far and therefore, they should give us a game.
Dominic Samuel is expected to make his debut tomorrow, and it will be good to see how Samuel performs. Although Paul Caddis has played through pre-season, including two goals at York (one can be seen here), it will be his first game as an official Rovers player.
Rovers started pre-season with a last-gasp winner, before flying out to Austria, where they finished the training camp with a narrow 1-0 loss to Sparta Prague. Rovers then returned to play York, and we ran out as 8-0 winners.
Morecambe began pre-season away at Lancashire side Bamber Bridge, with a 2-1 win. Then, they hosted Lancaster City and won the game 1-0, before losing on Tuesday night to Championship side Preston 2-0.
Players to watch:
The player to watch for Rovers is Bradley Dack. The ex-Gillingham player has picked up a goal and a few assists over pre-season and looks dangerous once he gets going. Dack should supply Rovers with the attacking outlet to break down Morecambe.
Morecambe’s attacking player Kevin Ellison is a dangerous threat and can score goals. Although he is 38 years old, he scored nine last season and has a wealth of experience that will serve him well.
Rovers should be comfortable against lower opposition, and the friendly should supply another test of fitness for the League One side.
Match prediction: Morecambe 1-3 Rovers
