Rovers Chat talk to MK Dons fan page On the Dot about tomorrow’s clash in League 1.
What do you make of your team’s transfer window so far?
“Robbie Neilson had a clear out following the departure of Karl Robinson and is now building his own squad. Nine players brought in so far, with at least two more likely to follow before the window closes. Peter Pawlett spent 10 years at Aberdeen and will have a big impact. ‘Ouss’ Cisse was signed from Tours FC in France and is a 6’4 holding midfielder with real character. Star signing is Osman Sow who scored for fun in the SPL with Hearts, and was recruited from the Chinese Super League. I think the Dons have made some excellent and exciting signings but it’ll take time for them to gel.”
What do you think of Blackburn Rovers’ summer deals?
“The stand out signing was Bradley Dack who has enormous potential. Peter Whittingham is a headline signing but doesn’t have age on his side so is more of a gamble. But it’s Dominic Samuel who caught my eye, and was a player I was hoping we could sign. With a run in a settled side, this lad could be something special. Overall, it seems like Blackburn have done some good business and put together a squad which will be one of the favourites for promotion this season.”
Who is your team’s player to watch and why?
“He won’t play against Blackburn because of a long term injury but over the season it’ll be Chuks Aneke. A physical attacking midfielder who has an eye for goal, he’ll cause a lot of problems for opposition defences and is due to return late September. On Saturday. I’d keep an eye on forward Osman Sow because of his movement, strength and ability to bring others into the game – lacks fitness at the moment but very influential.”
How has the start of your season been?
“We haven’t made the best of starts with defeats to Wigan and Blackpool, but showed signs of improvement in a 1-0 win against Gillingham. Our defence has been strong, conceding just 2 goals in the three league matches played. The problem has come further up the field, but I’m hoping the signing of Osman Sow will improve things, and he did score on his debut.”
How do you see your season going?
“Robbie Neilson believes he has a squad capable of automatic promotion, but I’d be pleased to get in the play offs. I think we’ll make a slow start as the new squad gets used to each other and then start to impose ourselves during the autumn. If we can keep our key players fit, I think we’ll have a decent season.”
How do you think the game will go?
“Rovers have to start as favourites, especially playing at home. That being said, you haven’t made the best of starts to the season and have conceded a few goals. I suspect that Blackburn will start strong with the Dons coming into it more as the match goes on.”
Score prediction and scorers?
“1-1. Kieran Agard and Dominic Samuel”
