Out of contract defender Paul Caddis has found his next club in form of Blackburn Rovers.
Caddis has joined a side with some great signings this summer, such as Peter Whittingham from Cardiff and Bradley Dack from Gillingham. The ex-Birmingham captain is mainly a RB, but can play CM, and will give competition to fan favourite Ryan Nyambe as the Blues look set to have a good season .
The former Celtic youngster will bolster boss Tony Mowbray’s defence which conceded 65 goals in last season’s tragedy as Rovers dropped to the third tier of English football .
As well as the fact the 29 year old brings leadership and experience to the squad, he also comes without a fee saves the budget for other players. The defender last season played for Bury 9 times but failed to catch the heart of the Greater Manchester faithful. Caddis signed a short-term contract with the League One club on the 25th February 2017. He went straight into the starting eleven for that day’s 1–0 win away to Charlton Athletic
The Scotsman can also play LB due to been good with his weaker foot – as seen by his goal vs York. Caddis played 125 times for Birmingham and scored 15 times – including the goal to keep them up against Derby. Although he isn’t the most attacking player, Caddis supplies the back line with confidence and he years of many service to all his clubs including Celtic and Dundee United where he spent time on loan .
Caddis has been on trial at Rovers during pre-season, and has put in some impressive performances – notably when he scored two goals away at York City when Rovers scored a resounding eight without reply.
